About The Project

For this Spanish tile roofing project, the homeowner wanted to preserve the original appearance and character of the home. Before starting the project, the owner considered whether to replace the existing Spanish tile roof with a new asphalt shingle roof or keep the original tiles and replace the aging underlayment.

Project Details

Because the existing Spanish tiles were an important part of the home’s design and appearance, we worked with the homeowner to preserve as many of the original tiles as possible rather than completely changing the look of the roof with shingles.

Our team carefully removed the existing Spanish roof tiles to access the roofing system underneath.

We then removed the old underlayment and prepared the roof for the installation of a new underlayment system to provide renewed protection beneath the tile.

During the removal process, we found that some of the existing tiles were damaged or broken and could not be reused.

We worked to find replacement tiles that closely matched the existing Spanish tiles in style, color, size, and appearance to help maintain a consistent look across the roof.

After installing the new underlayment and completing the necessary roofing work, we carefully reinstalled the original tiles along with the replacement tiles in the damaged areas.

Roofing Done Right. Built to Last.

By preserving and reinstalling the original Spanish tiles whenever possible, we were able to replace the aging underlayment and address damaged areas while maintaining the home’s original architectural character and avoiding a complete change in appearance that would have resulted from replacing the tile roof with asphalt shingles.

Common Challenges We Solved in This Project

  • Preserving the original Spanish tiles: The homeowner wanted to maintain the original appearance and character of the home instead of replacing the entire roof with asphalt shingles.
  • Carefully removing and reinstalling existing tiles: The original tiles needed to be removed to access and replace the aging underlayment while minimizing unnecessary damage to tiles that could still be reused.
  • Replacing broken and damaged tiles: Some of the existing Spanish tiles were cracked, broken, or in poor condition and could not be reinstalled.
  • Finding closely matching replacement tiles: We worked to find replacement tiles that closely matched the existing tiles in style, size, color, and overall appearance.

Our Mission With Every Shingle Roofing Project

Our mission was simple: to listen to the homeowner, understand what they wanted, and do everything possible to make it happen while working within the budget the customer had available.

The homeowner was considering whether to replace the existing tile roof with shingles or preserve the original tile look.

Because we understood how important it was to maintain the character and appearance of the home, we explored every possible option to preserve the existing tile rather than changing the entire look of the roof.
